DESCRIPTION:California is experiencing a teacher shortage crisis\, but certain regions of the state are more impacted than others. New UCLA CTS research profiles nine rural border counties in California that have limited access to Teacher Education Programs (TEPs). These counties\, which CTS researchers classify as teacher education “deserts”\, face unique challenges in recruiting and retaining highly qualified teachers. The nine counties are Alpine\, Del Norte\, Imperial\, Inyo\, Lassen\, Modoc\, Mono\, Sierra\, and Siskiyou. \nJoin the California Educator Diversity Project research team along with leaders from the field in exploring the profound impact that geographic location and economics have on the regional teacher supply.
