NORTH STATE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT COLLECTIVE PROPOSES TO CONVENE THE NORTH STATE’S 10-COUNTY REGION IN COMMUNITY ECONOMIC RESILIENCE FUND (CERF) PROCESS April 25, 2022–Background: The CERF was created to promote a sustainable and equitable recovery from the economic distress of COVID-19 by supporting new plans and strategies to diversify local economies and develop sustainable industries that create high-quality, broadly accessible jobs for all Californians. The Governor’s Office of Planning and Research (OPR), the California Labor Workforce Development Agency (LDWA), and the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz)-which together form the CERF Leadership Team—is facilitating the development of the CERF. Geographic Boundaries have been determined, consisting of 13 regions in California which will receive planning grants ($5 million per region) and implementation funds through a competitive process. A Collaborative, Inclusive Process: The North State Planning and Development Collective (NSPDC) at California State University, Chico, is proposing to serve as a Convener for the North State’s 10-County region, which consists of Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Tehama and Trinity counties. As Convener, the NSPDC is tasked with organizing an inclusive group of regional stakeholders, submitting the CERF Solicitation for Proposal, and implementing the planning grant in the region. We look forward to working alongside regional stakeholders to collectively develop a regional planning strategy that complements and supports the important work already being done in the North State. We are currently conducting outreach to identify additional groups or individuals who would like to be engaged in the discussion.
